Biometric Service status is useful in showing the connectivity status along with the last active time of a biometric device.
A biometric device is used for recording attendance punches of employees in an organization. However, a biometric device need not always process punches. Reason for the same can be one of the following:
- Internet Connectivity
- Firewall or Network setting update
- Hardware(Biometric device, cable) issue
- Setting update in Biometric device
Now, based on this connectivity and the frequency of punch upload over a time period, Hawk HR allows the user with admin access to Attendance module to check certain status of a biometric device.
- Biometric Service Status Red
- The biometric device sends a service status of 'red' when it isn't able to send a punch request to the database in last 24 hours i.e. it hasn't been able to add a punch in last one day. This could be caused by a device malfunction, or an internet failure, or probably the device hasn't been configured to send data to the database.
- Biometric Service Status Orange
- The biometric device sends a service status of 'orange' when it isn't able to send a punch request to the database in the time frame of last half an hour and last 24 hours i.e. it hasn't been able to add a punch in the time frame between last half an hour and last one day. This could be caused by the device not being in use for some time or a device malfunction, or an internet failure.
- Biometric Service Status Green
- The biometric device sends a service status of 'green' when it is able to send a punch request to the database in the time frame of last half an hour. It means that it is connected to the database and is able to add punches to the database without any issue. This is caused by the device being in use.
