HRStop allows admins to define custom holiday calendars for their organization. These calendars can be tailored to specific departments, entities, or locations and assigned accordingly to ensure employees receive the correct set of holidays.
This article walks you through the process of creating a new holiday calendar and adding holidays—either individually or in bulk.
Steps to Create a New Holiday Calendar
- Navigate to: Control Panel -> Holidays
- Click the dropdown beside Add Holiday.
- Select + Add Calendar.

Fill in the following details:
- Title – Name of the calendar (e.g., “India - North Zone 2025”)
- Description – Add a description for clarity (optional)
- Click Add to create the calendar.
Once the calendar is created, the system will prompt you to add holidays to it.
Adding Holidays
You can now begin adding holidays to the calendar either individually or in bulk.
Adding One Holiday at a Time

Enter the following fields:
- Holiday Name – e.g., Independence Day
- Description – (Optional) Additional info about the holiday
- Holiday Date – Select the date for the holiday

Holiday Type – (If enabled) Choose between:
- Mandatory
- Optional/Restricted

- Click Add to save the holiday.
Adding Holidays in Bulk (CSV Import)
If you have multiple holidays to add, use the bulk upload option via CSV:
- Navigate to: Control Panel -> Holidays.
- Under Holiday Calendars, click Edit under Actions for the calendar you want to update.
- Click on the Import option.

On the Import page:
- Download the sample CSV file provided on the right.
- Edit the file with your holiday list using the same format.

Ensure the Date Format is consistent throughout the file. Supported formats include:
- MM/DD/YYYY
- DD/MM/YYYY
- MM-DD-YYYY
- DD-MM-YYYY
- MMM DD, YYYY (e.g., Jan 01, 2025)
- Upload the CSV file using the Upload File field.
- Select the Date Format used in your file.

Click Review and Upload to verify the entries:
- Match the System Fields to the Uploaded Fields.
- Click Preview to confirm.
- Click Upload to complete the process.
Assigning a Holiday Calendar
After creating and populating a holiday calendar, you’ll need to assign it to employees.
