Difference between Attendance Report and LOP Report

Sep 17, 2021

HRStop provides two distinct reports to help organizations manage employee attendance and payroll accurately: Attendance Report and LOP (Loss of Pay) Report. While both reports are derived from employee attendance data, they serve different purposes and offer unique insights.

Attendance Report

The Attendance Report is a comprehensive record based on raw attendance punches logged in the HRStop portal. It reflects the daily attendance behavior of employees and is primarily used to track presence, absence, and attendance anomalies.

Key Information Included:

  • Attendance Status:
    • Present
    • Absent
    • Leave
    • Half Day
    • Late
    • Early Left
    • Holiday
    • Week Off
  • Attendance Punches (In/Out times)
  • Total Time worked per day

Use Case:

Useful for HR and managers to monitor attendance patterns, punctuality, and working hours.

LOP (Loss of Pay) Report

View detailed steps here

The LOP Report is a payroll-centric report that highlights salary deductions applicable for the selected month. These deductions are calculated based on attendance and leave policies defined in the HRStop portal.

LOP Types Displayed:

  • LOP due to Attendance (e.g., unapproved absences, late marks beyond allowed limit)
  • LOP due to Leaves (e.g., leaves taken beyond available quota)
  • LOP due to Arrears (e.g., adjustments from previous payroll cycles)

Important Notes:

  • The LOP report reflects only the count and reason for unpaid days.
  • It is not a final report — it may be updated if attendance is regularized later through:
    • Punch Requests
    • Leave Applications
    • Justification submissions

Use Case:

Primarily used during payroll processing to determine actual loss of pay applicable for each employee.

Sample Scenario to Understand the Difference:

Company Policy:
If an employee is late more than 3 times in a month, a half-day LOP will be applied from the 4th instance onward.

  • In the Attendance Report:
The employee will appear as Late for the respective days, marked with an asterisk (*) before the total time.
  • In the LOP Report:
Only the 4th instance will reflect a Half Day LOP, as per the policy. The first 3 late days will not count towards LOP.
